Don’t forget

Don’t forget that I loved you today.

Don’t forget my face, my smile, my eyes.

You left your keys on the tv and

Forgot to take the list to the store.

——-

I won’t forget your love today

Or when you put your arm around my shoulders and asked, “How’s it going?”

I won’t forget the care you’ve taken of me,

Increasing with every forgetful thing.

——

Don’t forget that I loved you today

And forgive my frustration when you don’t recall

That you had a doctors appointment and you were to going to water the garden.

I never know these days what you are going to forget.

———

I won’t forget your love today,

That you took me shopping even though it meant extra pressure and delay.

That you careful for me to know what food was in the fridge

While you went to the beach to get some alone time, rest and respite

From me, the barking dog and our two great grandchildren who live with us .

——-

Don’t forget that I loved you today

As your tomorrow, and mine, is uncertain.

Did you forget to return the re-fi paper to the credit union?

Did your ember to clean your room and do your laundry?

———-

I won’t forget your love today

Or yesterday, or tomorrow,

Because it’s buried deep in my heart and my bones and my soul.

I love you so Betsy!

Goodnight,

Have you seen my slippers?

Gwen and I have memory issues, and we have people who love us. She is my friend and I won’t forget to remind her sometimes.
