Life Quilt – row 1, square 3b – The Motorcycle Rally

Chinook Winds casino in Lincoln City has an annual motorcycle rally, WIND.

This tee shirt is from WIND III, as it states.

I didn’t actually go to WIND III, but I did go to the casino, and I really liked the tee shirt.

At that time I had moved up to a big bike, a Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1500 cc with fuel injection.

Betsy and I rode with the Retreads motorcycle club and attended a rally in Coos Bay, OR for Vulcan Riders and Owners Club (VROC).

Betsy had a wonderful time.

Me too.

There is a story about one of the riders who died in an accident on the way home with a cement truck.  She told VROC members that it was his wish to have his ashes spreads out in different places in the world.

The response was swift from members on the east coast, the west coast, Canada and the rest of the world. His wish would be granted

The USPS told her she could ship his ashes if they were double plastic bagged. The irony of this was not lost on members.

Ever after that, almost weekly, another member would announce on the VROC bulletin board that they were taking him to the mountain, a river, the ocean, the desert or somewhere else across the USA and around the world.
